Twin Lakes Thunder Rally set for this week at fairgrounds

A benefit event for the Bob Davis Veteran Center is scheduled for this week. The Twin Lakes Thunder Rally will begin its events Wednesday and conclude Sunday at the Baxter County Fairgrounds.

The Bob Davis Veteran Center is a full-service, 18-bed center assisting and supporting United States veterans in various levels of need. Its services include a coffee hut with pastries and more, a game area for friendly competition with fellow veterans and others and a job program to assist veterans with resume building, interview skills and more. An Army surplus store is also included and open to the public with proceeds benefiting the veteran center.

Vendor set-up at the fairgrounds will be Wednesday and Thursday from noon until 8. The beer garden will be open Wednesday from 4 until 8, Thursday from 11 until 10, Friday from 11 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until midnight. On Thursday, a fun ride is scheduled to start at 2 p.m., and a jam session will wrap up the evening from 8 until 10.

Gates will open at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday. A few motorcycle rides will be held over the two days. The Peel Ferry backwards ride is set for Friday from 11 until 2, and riders must wear a helmet. The Buffalo City ride will be Friday afternoon from 2:30 until 5, and a surprise ride will be Saturday from 11 until 2.

Bingo competitions will be Friday afternoon from 2 until 4 and Saturday morning from 10:30 until noon. A gong show karaoke competition is set for Friday and Saturday nights from 6 until 8, and musical entertainment will be provided both nights from 8 until midnight. The Leslie Williams Band will perform Friday, and Still Water Hardy will take the stage Saturday.

Other activities on Saturday include the Arkie Weasel Dice Run at 10 a.m., registration for the bike games and bike and car show from 1 until 1:30, bike games from 2 until 3 and the car and truck cruise through Mountain Home at 3. A trick-or-treat event with the bikes, cars, trucks and vendors is scheduled from 4 until 5, the bike and car show will be from 5 until 6, with the winners announced at 6:30, and a drawing for a quilt, a Henry rifle and raffle tables will be held at 7:45.

Sunday will be the final day of the rally, as a prayer breakfast will be held at 9 a.m. The final cleanup of the fairgrounds will be from 10 until noon.
