Elton John, Queen among artists scoring American Music Awards nominations

dick clark productionsThe nominations for the 2019 American Music Awards, and while the vast majority of the artists in the running for honors this year are contemporary acts, a couple are veteran superstars — Elton John and Queen.

Elton received a nod for the Tour of the Year trophy for his ongoing Farewell Yellow Brick Road trek. The pop-rock legend will compete for the prize against his pal Ed Sheeran, BTS, Ariana Grande and Pink.

Queen is vying for the Favorite Soundtrack honor for the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack. The other nominees in the category are the A Star Is Born soundtrack by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper and the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack.

Scoring the most 2019 AMA nominations is rapper-singer Post Malone, who nabbed seven.

The 2019 American Music Awards will air live from Los Angeles Sunday, November 24, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
