MH Entertainment District Street Festival among several events set for Saturday

With the recent formation of Mountain Home’s new downtown entertainment district, a big celebration is scheduled for this weekend. The inaugural Mountain Home Entertainment District Street Festival, the “Whoo’s Gettin’ Dirty Mud Run” and the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” will all be held Saturday.

The street festival will be from 2 until 9 around the Baxter County Courthouse square on East Sixth Street, East Seventh Street and South Baker Street. Admission is free of charge for all ages. The activities will include games, live music, classic cars, motorcycles and raffles. Food trucks and other vendors will be onsite, and all proceeds will be used for the revitalization of the historic downtown square.

Wes Dorethy will be the first to take the stage at 2, the Nick Reed Band will perform at 3, David Dunn will be featured at 5, Blayd Lawrence will play at 6, Chris Royer will start his performance at 6:30, Zack Estes will take the stage at 7, the Elements will perform at 7:30, and Patient Eyes will be the final act starting at 8:15.

According to the City of Mountain Home, Sixth and Seventh streets will be closed from U.S. Highway 62B to Church Street, and Baker Street will be closed from Fifth to Eighth Street to accomodate the festival. For more information, contact organizer Bruce Hayden at 417-598-3366.

The “Whoo’s Gettin’ Dirty Mud Run” and obstacle course will be Saturday morning on the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. For anyone signing up through Thursday, the cost is $45 for the 5k, $55 for the 10k and $40 to support the event as a “virtual runner.” For those registering Friday evening from 5 until 7 or Saturday morning at 7 on the campus, the cost is $55 for the 5k and $65 for the 10k.

Proceeds will go to the ASUMH Foundation for the scholarship fund, the student emergency fund, intramural sports expenses and other financial needs for students. For more information or to register, go online to pirateperryevents.com/whoos-gettin-dirty.

The “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event is scheduled for 4 p.m. around the Baxter County Courthouse square, as men will be in high heels to benefit Serenity, Inc. The cost to participate is a minimum donation of $25. Prizes will be given for the fastest runner, the highest heels, the best time and the best costume.
