Mountain Home resident Barb Skeffington has been presented with the 2019 Heart of the Library award. The award was presented during a donor recognition event at the Donald W. Reynolds Library earlier this month.

The Heart of the Library award is given to individuals who have shown leadership in support of the library foundation by giving of both resources and time.

In making the announcement, officials noted Skeffington has exemplified what it truly means to have a heart for the Donald W. Reynolds Library.

Skeffington grew up in a rural area outside the Twin Cities area in Minnesota. She was an educator for 30 years, first, as a home economics teacher and later a school counselor.

When she and her husband John retired, they decided to move to Mountain Home. Barb Skeffington immediately connected with the library and the vision for a new building. During the capital campaign for the new library building, Skeffington was a leader, making a substantial contribution to the campaign in memory of her husband. With her gift, she joined the Nell Powell Wright Circle of Giving for those who have contributed $100,000 or more to the Baxter County Library Foundation.

Skeffington served on the library foundation board of trustees from 2011 to 2014 and continues to support the library through her membership and volunteer activities with the Friends of the Baxter County Library.
