Regal Beloit to close West Plains factory, cut over 200 jobs

Over 200 employees of a factory in West Plains are expected to be out of a job by the spring. International electric motor manufacturer Regal Beloit has sent a letter to the Missouri Department of Economic Development’s Office of Workforce Development stating all operations at its Howell County location will be closed by the end of May.

The letter states the employment of 12 workers will cease during a two-week period ending Jan. 3. Another 63 employees are expected to lose their jobs during another two-week period ending on Feb. 14, 31 more jobs should be lost by April 3, 94 more jobs are expected to be slashed by May 8, and the remaining employees will be laid off by May 31.
