Courtesy of Eagle Rock Entertainment/ AXS TVThe latest episode of the AXS TV series Brian Johnson‘s A Life on the Road features longtime Eagles guitarist and solo star Joe Walsh chatting with the AC/DC frontman as they take a limo ride around Walsh’s adopted hometown of Los Angeles.
During the program, which premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, Joe discusses different aspects of his long career, including his experiences with old band The James Gang, his early solo success and his time with the Eagles.
In a preview clip from the show, Walsh remembers when he scored his first solo hit in 1973 with “Rocky Mountain Way,” noting that the success of the tune “saved my life.”
Joe says he knew the tune was a good song, then reflects on how popular tunes have an impact on many people’s lives.
“People feel it, and they remember where they were the first time they heard it,” Walsh notes, “and that’s the connect that makes things special.”
The 71-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer also reflects on the 1970s L.A.-area music scene of which he became a part.
“This whole Southern California community of artists, before anybody made it, was full of creative energy,” he maintains. “And somebody would play The Troubadour, everybody else would go, and then we’d split off into groups and go play our songs for each other, and help each other write ’em.”
Walsh adds that the Eagles were one of the many the groups that emerged from the scene, pointing out that they were “guys that got focused during a very artistically creative environment and period.”
