Compass RecordsJust a few days after his ex-band mate Steve Perry released a cover of “Silver Bells” as a new holiday single, Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain has released a Christmas single of his own, an original tune called “Wonder of Wonders.”

The track, which features guest vocals by Michael Tait of the popular Christian rock band The Newsboys, is available now as a digital download and via streaming services.

The song was recorded at Cain’s Addiction Sound Studios in Nashville and produced award-winning Christian-music producer Ian Eskelin. Jonathan co-wrote “Wonder of Wonders” with Eskelin and award-winning faith-based songwriter Tony Wood.

Cain, a devout born-again Christian who’s released several faith-based solo albums in recent years, reflects on the message behind “Wonder of Wonders” in a new video posted on his official YouTube channel.

“[W]hen I think about a worship Christmas, it almost has to include the idea that He came down for us,” he explains. “You know, the greatest gift that we have is that our salvation was complete with the birth of Christ. You know, what a miracle it was.”

Jonathan adds that, during the holiday, he’d like people to focus on prayer “and forget about the commercial part of Christmas.”

Journey will play a four-show Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars during the last week of December before hitting the road this May with The Pretenders for a North American tour that will feature more than 60 dates.

First up for Cain, however, he’ll headline the “Don’t Stop Believin’ Family Christmas Tour,” a holiday-themed outing that hasn’t yet released a full itinerary.
