Courtesy of Rock & Roll Hall of FameThe “Play It Loud: Instruments of Rock & Roll” exhibition, which was on display at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art from April to October, is slated to open at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on November 22.
To celebrate the exhibit Rock Hall debut, a pre-opening party will be held there on November 21 at 8 p.m. ET, and will feature appearances by several rock stars, including ex-Eagles guitarist Don Felder, Heart‘s Nancy Wilson, and Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo.
Tickets for the event are available now at Ticketing.RockHall.com, and are priced at $30 for members and $50 for non-members. Attendees will be able to tour all of the Rock Hall exhibits, will be treated to live music and entertainment, and will receive a complimentary drink ticket and access to a dessert bar.
The “Play It Loud” exhibition is the largest single exhibit ever at the Rock Hall, and will take over four floors of the institution.
Among the many historic instruments that will be on display include a Gibson guitar belonging to Chuck Berry, Jerry Garcia‘s “Wolf” guitar, the Martin acoustic guitar Eric Clapton played during his MTV Unplugged concert, a hand-decorated Jimi Hendrix known as “Love Drops,” the keyboard that Led Zeppelin‘s John Paul Jones used in the recording of “Stairway to Heaven,” and a hand-painted Gibson Les Paul that Keith Richards played during the recording of the Rolling Stones album Beggars Banquet.
In addition, the exhibit will feature a sculpture created from the pieces of an electric guitar that The Who‘s Pete Townshend smashed during a photo shoot, vintage concert posters, stage-worn costumes and much more.
