A man who used one storage unit as living quarters and another as a bathroom pled guilty to charges against him during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Thirty-six-year-old Steven Wade Bailey Jr., who listed an address in Midway when booked into the Baxter County Detention Center, was put on probation for four years and ordered to pay $1,600 in victim restitution for damages done at the storage complex.

The owner of A-1 Storage along Buzzard Roost Road said he rented a unit to Bailey in early April. In late May, the owner reported he had done an inspection of the property and found the doors to four units had been damaged.

When he reviewed video surveillance footage, he saw Bailey causing damage to the doors. The owner said four doors would have to be replaced.
The owner said Bailey had apparently been using the unit he rented as a home, which is a violation of his lease, and had not paid rent for the second one used as a bathroom, which had to be sterilized.

Bags of trash had been thrown over a dirt embankment by Bailey and had to be cleaned up, according to the probable cause affidavit.
