Due to the weather, the annual Veterans Day ceremony in Mountain Home was moved to St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. The keynote speaker was United States Navy veteran and fourth-degree Knights of Columbus member Peter Tottenham.

Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day beginning in the year 1919. Tottenham says Nov. 11 marks the anniversary to the end of World War I.

Armistice Day became a legal holiday in 1938 by President Franklin Roosevelt. It was primarily set aside to honor fallen veterans of World War I, but Tottenham says the name of the day was changed in 1954.
