A Lakeview man facing a number of child pornography-related charges appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and was put on probation for 10 years. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Twenty-three-year-old Mason Wren was arrested in July on 10 felony counts of distributing, possessing or viewing material depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.

The investigation leading to the arrest went back almost a year. Special Agent Jackie Stinnett with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Arkansas State Police reported receiving an email from another state police investigator telling him he had downloaded child pornography using law enforcement software from a suspect’s internet protocol (IP) address in this area.

Using a search warrant, served on an internet provider, Stinnett was able to pinpoint an address along Boat Dock Road in Lakeview where the IP address was located. A search warrant was served at the address and computer equipment belonging to Wren was seized. Another warrant was obtained to allow a forensic examination of the equipment at Homeland Security in Fayetteville.

As a result of the exam, images and video containing child explicit material were discovered. The female girls depicted were estimated to be from 8-to-12-years-old.
