Courtesy of AirBnBThis past week, KISS was forced to cancel its entire Australian tour because frontman Paul Stanley has a throat infection.  But the rest of the band still decided to head Down Under to play a special show on a boat for a small group of fans…and some great white sharks, too.

The unique event, which took place Monday, November 18, off the coast of Port Lincoln, Australia, featured KISS’ Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer playing a short set on the deck of boat with just eight fans in attendance, according to 7News. The show featured five songs: “Calling Dr. Love,” “Deuce,” “I Love It Loud,” “Black Diamond” and “Rock and Roll All Nite.”

Audio of the concert was blasted into the surrounding waters, where the low frequencies of the rocking music attracted some sharks. The concert attendees were in a glass-bottom boat that allowed them to watch the sharks gather.

After the show, Simmons told 7News that the experience was “incredible.” He added, “It’s the thrill of a lifetime…You’re on a boat, on seven-inch platform heels, trying to sing your heart out and pumping it good into the water.”

As previously reported, the event was organized in partnership with Airbnb Experiences. Proceeds raised are going to benefit the Australian Marine Conservation Society, which is the country’s only national charity devoted specifically to protecting ocean wildlife.

KISS had been scheduled to kick off its Australian tour leg — part of its The End of the Road farewell trek — on November 16 in Perth. The band’s next show will take place on December 8 in Sendai, Japan. Visit KISSOnline.com to check out the group’s full itinerary.
