Tuesday hoops results include tough loss for MHJH girls

It was a busy night for basketball in the area Tuesday night. The Mountain Home junior girls lost to West Memphis Wonder 44-41 in the Searcy Tournament. Amelia Rucker pumped in 21 points for the Junior Lady Bombers who fall to 0-2. They play again Saturday at Highland.

In high school boys’ action:
-Viola defeated Calico Rock 47-34. The Longhorns are now 9-0 while the Pirates fall to 1-6.
-Bruno-Pyatt lost to Western Grove 67-30 to fall to 3-7. The Warriors are 7-1.
-Mammoth Spring fell to Buffalo Island Central 56-45. Alex Mero scored 19 and Cole Young had 11 for the Bears who drop to 4-4 on the season.
-Bergman downed Berryville 81-59 to improve to 5-1.
-Omaha topped St. Joe 75-44. The Eagles improve to 5-2 while the Wildcats fall to 2-8.
-Harrison lost their season opener to Rogers Heritage 57-53.

In high school girls’ action:
-Cotter won at Deer 66-33. Kaylee Crownover paced the Lady Warriors with 16 points and Kate Cheek chipped in 10 as Cotter improves to 2-4.
-Viola topped Calico Rock 58-43 to run their record to 9-0. The Lady Pirates fall to 3-6.
-Bruno-Pyatt fell to Western Grove 74-43. The Lady Patriots are now 5-5. Western Grove improves to 5-2.
-Mammoth Spring defeated Buffalo Island Central 59-31. Lauren Mitchell scored 14 points, Terra Godwin had 12 and Shelby VanGinhoven 10 for the Lady Bears who improve to 8-1.
-Bergman lost to Berryville 49-19. The Lady Panthers are now 6-3.
-Mountain View squeezed by Tuckerman 60-59 to move their record to 1-1.
