Two area high school football teams will be among several competing in the state quarterfinals Saturday in Missouri.
Ava will take its 12-0 record on the road, as they meet Lamar in the Class 2 State Playoffs. The Bears won the District 3 championship eight days ago by shutting out Willow Springs. The Tigers are 10-2 after doubling up Fair Grove for the District 4 title.
Thayer will be in Ste. Genevieve to go up against Valle Catholic in the Class 1 State Playoffs. Both teams are 11-1. The Bobcats edged out Pierce City last Friday for the District 2 championship. The Warriors took the District 1 title after beating up on Hayti.
Both games are set to kick off at 1 p.m.
