Salem, Melbourne advance; Harrison falls in state playoffs

Three area high school football teams were in playoff action Friday.

Salem was able to advance to the quarterfinals in the Class 2A State Playoffs. The Greyhounds eliminated Parkers Chapel by a final of 46-22. Salem improves to 9-1 on the season, and they’ll stay at home next week, as they will be paired with Carlisle.

Melbourne picked up its second road victory in the Class 3A State Playoffs. The Bearkatz were able to defeat Glen Rose by a score of 42-28 at Malvern. Melbourne is now 10-2 on the year, and their quarterfinal game will be next week at Osceola.

For the second year in a row, Harrison’s undefeated record gets blemished by Pulaski Academy in the Class 5A State Playoffs. The Goblins fell to the Bruins in the quarterfinals 28-21. Harrison wraps up the season with a record of 11-1.
