MH junior high girls’ teams have mixed results in Highland Classic

Two of Mountain Home’s junior high girls’ teams had mixed results Saturday on the final day of the Highland Classic.

The Junior Lady Bombers won the freshmen game 34-21 over the host Junior Lady Rebels 34-21. Cate Jackson led Mountain Home with 10 points. The Junior Lady Bombers improve to 1-2 on the season.

Mountain Home did not fare as well in the eighth grade contest, as they fell to Highland 25-23 in overtime. The Eighth Grade Lady Bombers drop to 1-1 on the year.

Both Mountain Home teams will take on Harrison on Monday.

Two local high school boys’ teams also took part in the Highland Classic. Viola fell to Jonesboro Westside 85-53, and Salem defeated Highland 52-31.

Mountain Home’s seventh grade boys picked up three victories in a jamboree at Harrison. The Seventh Grade Bombers topped Green Forest, Berryville and the host Seventh Grade Goblins.

The Arvest Bank Tournament came to an end Saturday at Flippin.

Norfork’s girls finished as the runners-up of the tournament. In a battle between Lady Panthers, Norfork fell to Bergman 38-30.

Flippin ended up as the runners-up on the boys’ side. The Bobcats also lost to Bergman by a final of 66-49.

Mountain Home Christian Academy’s boys came up short in the consolation championship game. The Eagles suffered a 76-66 defeat to Jasper.

Jasper was not as fortunate in the girls’ consolation title game. The Lady Pirates fell to Alpena by a score of 57-35.
