The Mountain Home Police Department is reminding motorists to “Click It or Ticket” for the Thanksgiving holiday. Through Sunday, the department will join other law enforcement agencies across the country to team up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration working toward reducing the number of fatalities occurring when vehicle passengers fail to buckle their seatbelts.

During the 2017 Thanksgiving period between Nov. 22 and 27, 365 passenger vehicle occupants were killed in motor vehicle accidents throughout the United States. Nighttime proved to be even more deadly with 57 percent of Thanksgiving weekend crashes occurring.

Participating law enforcement will be taking a no-excuse approach to motorists without a seatbelt on and will be writing citations. In Mountain Home, the law requires all front seat passengers and children to be buckled.
