Salem, Melbourne to compete in state quarterfinals

High school football is included on the local Black Friday schedule, as two area teams will continue the postseason. Salem and Melbourne are both set for quarterfinal action.

Salem ended up changing its venue due to the condition of its home field. The Greyhounds’ game against Carlisle in the Class 2A State Playoffs has been relocated to Mountain Home High School Career Academies.

Salem brings a record of 9-1 into the game. The Greyhounds played their first playoff game last week and defeated Parkers Chapel.

Carlisle is 9-3 after going on the road and upsetting Foreman. Salem head coach Clay Wiggins says the Bison are one of the hottest teams in the state right now.
