Eagle Rock EntertainmentThe restored version of INXS‘ 1991 concert film Live Baby Live will be screened in select theaters across North America on Monday, December 9. The movie captures a sold-out performance that the Australian band gave in front of more than 73,000 people at London’s Wembley Stadium.
The updated edition of the movie will be shown in the widescreen 4K Ultra HD format, with a new Dolby Atmos audio mix.
INXS lead guitarist Tim Farriss tells ABC Audio that watching the updated film on the big screen blew him away.
“I got goose bumps all the time seeing [late frontman] Michael [Hutchence] like that, and seeing it so big,” Farriss says. “I felt like…I was on the stage or in the audience, all of that, because [of] the different camera angles… So it was just a thrill.”
INXS sax player/guitarist Kirk Pengilly, meanwhile, tells ABC Audio that watching the film was moving for him on multiple levels.
“It is pretty emotional…watching it and seeing Michael, but it’s also emotional because it’s part of all of our past,” he notes. “And it was such a special night. You know, to come and sort of…conquer England in a way, by selling out Wembley Stadium, the most…iconic gig in the U.K.”
Farriss says fans who come check out Live Baby Live in cinemas will see INXS giving a dynamic performance without any special multimedia augmentation.
“I hope they go, because it’s really worth it,” he declares. “[I]t’s just six blokes and a big P.A. No ego ramps, no wheeling out the piano for the ballad, no pyrotechnics, no backing vocalists, no dancers…And we entertain the audience really well, I thought.”
