The City of Mountain Home has received a matching grant of $96,500 from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism.

Mayor Hillrey Adams was notified of the grant Tuesday via a letter from Governor Asa Hutchinson.

The funds will be matched by the city for refurbishment of Clysta Willett Park. Adams says improving the park’s infrastructure is a top priority.

The grant includes improvement to the playground areas for those children playing in the park during ballgames.

Adams says it’s too early to determine a start date for the project. The mayor says the city may try to complete the project before baseball season arrives. But, if the timeline for construction cannot be concluded before the season begins, the project will be held until the completion of the season and be ready for use in 2021.
