Chamber of Commerce to host MH-Town Christmas Festival Friday

The expansion of the traditional kickoff of the Christmas season in downtown Mountain Home is less than 24 hours away from getting started. The Mountain Home-Town Christmas Festival hosted by the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce will get underway on Friday.

In addition to the tree lighting and the Christmas parade, vendors, music and other activities will be a part of this year’s event.

Mountain Home Mayor Hillrey Adams said this week on KTLO-FM 97.9 the city and the chamber are giving attendees a reason to come early and stay later.

Festivities get underway at 4 p.m. with vendors and food trucks around the Baxter County Courthouse square and entertainment on the north side of the courthouse steps. Daybreak will have the opening performance through 4:20 followed by the Mountain Home High School Bella Voce Singers at 4:30. KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot will provide holiday music from 4:45 to 5 and from 5:15 to 5:30. Malinda Calloway and Tim Martin of First Christian Church will perform at 5, and the Cotter School Singers will wrap up the entertainment from 5:40 to 6.

Registration for Santa’s Diamond Dash sponsored by Gregory Jewelers will get underway at 4:30 in First Security Bank’s ATM parking lot on Ninth Street. The fun run will begin an hour later at Clark Office Products and end at Hospital Drive. The winners will be announced at 6 on the courthouse stage. The Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade will start at 6, and this year’s theme is Santa’s Workshop. The parade will start at Hospital Drive and end at Clark Office Products.

The First Security Bank Tree Lighting Ceremony will get underway at 7:15 at the Mountain Home Plaza 2000. The 30-foot tree came from Little Rock and is decorated with assistance from Annette’s Flowers.
