A major road in Branson is on schedule to be rerouted. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the route of Missouri Highway 76 will be changed, and the majority of the road known as 76 Country Boulevard will be transferred to the City of Branson.

The task of changing the signage for Highway 76 will begin next week and continue until late March. Highway 76 will travel east and west between the Ozark Mountain Highroad interchange west of Branson and U.S. Highway 65 north of the city. The Ozark Mountain Highroad will no longer carry the designation of Missouri Highway 465.

Highway 76 will run north and south with Highway 65 between the Ozark Mountain Highroad interchange and the current Highway 76 interchange in Branson. The section of Highway 76 between Highway 65 and Shepherd of the Hills Expressway will be designated as 76 Country Boulevard and maintained by the City of Branson.

Missouri Highway 376 currently ends at the intersection with 76 Country Boulevard and Shepherd of the Hills Expressway. It will be extended west along the old Highway 76 to the Ozark Mountain Highroad interchange.

The prime contractor for the signage changes is James H. Drew Corporation of Indianapolis. The overall completion of the project is scheduled for mid-May at a cost of $657,000.
