MHHS basketball teams to finish Branson tourney, girls look to clinch title

The Mountain Home High School basketball teams will wrap up the Branson Battle at the Border Tournament Saturday, as they take on the host school.

The Lady Bombers can clinch the tournament title with a victory in the round robin format. Mountain Home, currently at 3-0, won its second game in the tournament Friday over Lake Hamilton. The Lady Pirates are coming off a dominating victory over Bolivar.

The Mountain Home boys are 1-2 on the season. The Bombers suffered their second loss of the tournament Friday to Lake Hamilton. Branson suffered a 20-point loss to Bolivar in the last game of the day.

The girls’ game tips off at 3 p.m. followed by the boys’ contest. Both games can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and ktlo.com.

Two local high school basketball teams will play their final games in the Fordland Invitational Tournament. Lutie’s boys will meet New Covenant Academy for fifth place at noon, and the Dora girls will face Marion C. Early for third place at 1:30.

Viola’s girls will play for the championship of the Williams Baptist University High School Tournament at Walnut Ridge. The Lady Longhorns will be paired with top-seeded Marmaduke at 2 p.m.

The Izard County boys will look to salvage a win in the Barry Pruitt Hurricane Classic at Jonesboro. The Cougars will face Brookland in the seventh place game at 1.
