The recent arrest of a Missouri man and woman by Mountain Home Police did not come off smoothly. The pair was reported to have resisted officers, hit one in the lip, spewed threats, spit food, cursed and kicked anyone in sight.

The two — 26-year-old Christopher Jason Lynne of Gainesville and 30-year-old Telisa Elaine Deshazo of West Plains — appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday. Both asked Circuit Judge John Putman to allow them to be released on their own recognizance, and both were quickly turned down by the judge.

When Lynne made his request, Judge Putman not only refused the OR bond, but commented, “If I had set your bond, it would have been much higher.” An emotional Deshazo told Judge Putman she was “ashamed of what I did. I was drunk, passed out, asleep.” The appeal did not sway the judge. Bond for both remains $5,000.

Lynne and Deshazo were stopped Nov. 30 on Iowa Street. At the time of the stop, Lynne was reported to have been driving the SUV. The Mountain Home Police officer said he noticed the “strong odor” of alcohol. Lynne admitted to having “one shot.”

Lynne got out of the vehicle, but Deshazo stayed inside. The officer opened the door on the passenger’s side and saw a small open whiskey bottle under her feet. As the officer who made the initial stop was waiting on backup, Deshazo began cursing him, saying she would “break” the policeman.

When a second officer arrived, they attempted to remove Deshazo from the vehicle, and she began yelling and kicking. She was alleged to have hit one of the officers in the lip. Even after a stun gun was used on her, she continued to resist. The officers were finally able to get her on the ground and into handcuffs.

Deshazo continued to fight the officers even after cuffed. She spit food on an officer and kicked him, according to the probable cause affidavit.

She had not run out of energy or anger after reaching the Baxter County jail. As jailers were attempting to get her out of the Mountain Home Police Department patrol car, she threatened, kicked and spit on them.

Lynne got into the act after arriving at the jail. When an officer went to meet with him, Lynne was reported to have become irate and spit in an officer’s face. At one point, he was reported to have lunged at the office, cursed him and kicked a table in the room. Because of his actions, he was placed in a restraint chair. He would not get into the chair voluntarily and had to be carried. He took the opportunity to kick at the officer and a jailer multiple times.

From her booking photo, a smiling Deshazo appeared to have also been placed in a restraint chair.
