MH freshmen teams to play Monday at Forrest City

Basketball makes up much of the local Monday schedule, as Mountain Home’s freshmen teams will be on the road for an outing with Forrest City. The girls’ game tips off at 5 p.m. followed by the boys’ contest.

In other junior high action, Yellville-Summit travels to Marshall, and Viola hosts Izard County.

On the high school level, the third annual Battle of the Border Tournament will get underway at Mammoth Spring. On the girls’ side, Gainesville meets Hillcrest at 4, and Bakersfield faces the host Lady Bears at 7. On the boys’ bracket, Mountain Home Christian Academy takes on Hillcrest at 5:30, and Bakersfield plays Sloan-Hendrix at 8:30.

Two area schools will compete in the Mansfield Invitational Boys’ Basketball Tournament. Gainesville will be matched up with Willow Springs at 6, and Ava will go up against Norwood at 7:30

A pair of area boys’ teams will square off on the opening night of the Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College High School Tournament at Batesville. Melbourne and Mountain View are scheduled for a 5:15 tip-off.

The Marshall boys will be in West Fork for the first game of the Arvest Bank Duel at the Dome. The Bobcats will meet Prairie Grove at 5:30.

The Western Grove Tournament is scheduled to get underway Monday. Timbo begins with a doubleheader against Oark at 4, and Jasper’s boys will be paired with Mount Judea at 8:30.

The Omaha boys will be in Green Forest for the start of the Anstaff Bank Holiday Tournament. The Eagles will meet Lincoln at 5:30.

In other high shcool basketball, Flippin entertains Lead Hill, Dora’s boys make the trip to Koshkonong, and Rural Special is home against Mount Vernon-Enola.
