Missouri Governor Mike Parson’s office has notified Christy Thompson she has been appointed to fill the unexpired term of former Ozark County Treasurer Phyllis Turner.

The Ozark County Times reports Thompson is set to be sworn into office Tuesday by Ozark County Clerk Brian Wise.

The position became vacant in October with the death of former Ozark County Treasurer Phyllis Turner.

Interim Treasurer Rickie Johnston was appointed by the Ozark County Commission to serve in the position until the governor’s appointment was made.

The 50-year-old Thompson has worked as a deputy to Ozark County Circuit Clerk and Recorder Becki Strong for the past 12 years and during that time occasionally helped Turner when needed.
