A man with a criminal history in the Twin Lakes Area has been arrested in connection with a weekend homicide in Jonesboro.

KAIT television in Jonesboro reports 48-year-old Shawn Cone has been arrested in Key West, Florida, after flying from Memphis on Monday.

In 2012, Cone was arrested in Baxter County on felony charges of defrauding a secured creditor and theft of property, according to a news release from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the Jonesboro Police Department, officers were contacted around noon Sunday to conduct a welfare check on 50-year-old Alyssa Reynolds. After making no contact with Reynolds at the home on Brac Place, a second call was received for a welfare check at 6:45 p.m. from concerned friends and relatives.

This time authorities forced their way into the home and found the body of Reynolds, with the coroner declaring the death a homicide.

According to KAIT, police said they were able to develop strong leads helping identify Cone as the suspect early in their investigation. Cone will be extradited to Jonesboro to face charges.

In the 2012 case, Cone and his wife allegedly agreed to sell a houseboat on Lake Norfork to a local resident at a price of $275,000. Cone issued a bill of sale to the buyer and accepted payment. The buyer of the houseboat was later contacted by a local bank, which had questions about the purchase.

The buyer produced the bill of sale, but was informed by the bank that Cone had never paid off the loan for the boat in order to release the bank’s secured collateral interest. The bank seized the boat and the would-be buy reported the crime to the sheriff’s office.
