MHHS basketball teams begin Cabot Pre-Holiday Classic Thursday

Basketball dominates the local Thursday schedule, as Mountain Home’s high school teams begin another tournament. The Bombers and Lady Bombers are set to play their first games in the Cabot Pre-Holiday Classic.
Mountain Home’s boys will take the court first, as their opening opponent will be Beebe. The Bombers are 2-2 on the season after beating Branson on Saturday to finish third in the Branson Battle at the Border. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30
The Mountain Home girls will have the next game, as they meet Little Rock McClellan. The Lady Bombers have a record of 4-0 after winning the Branson Battle at the Border over the weekend. Gametime is set for 7 p.m.

Gainesville will resume play in the Mansfield Invitational Boys’ Basketball Tournament. The Bulldogs will go up against the host Lions at 5 p.m.

The Dora boys will compete in the Ozark Mountain Shootout at Glendale High School in Springfield. The Falcons will meet Heritage Hall, Oklahoma, at 5.

The Battle of the Border Tournament will wrap up its second round Thursday at Mammoth Spring. In the girls’ semifinals, Salem and the host Lady Bears tip off at 4 p.m., and Thayer takes on Hillcrest at 7. On the boys’ bracket, Mountain Home Christian Academy plays Sloan-Hendrix on the consolation side at 5:30, and Mammoth Spring will be paired with Mountain View-Liberty in the semifinals at 8:30.

Melbourne’s boys are scheduled for another game in the Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College High School Tournament at Batesville. The Bearkatz will meet Greers Ferry West Side at 7:30.

Two area boys’ teams will continue action in the Arvest Bank Duel at the Dome in West Fork. Marshall gets underway at 4 against Greenland on the consolation bracket, and Bergman faces Prairie Grove in the semifinals at 7.

The Western Grove Tournament will hold its semifinal round on Thursday. In girls’ action, Jasper and Oark tip off at 4, and the host Lady Warriors take on Deer at 7. On the boys’ side, Jasper plays Deer at 5:30, and Western Grove will be matched up with Oark at 8:30.

Omaha’s boys will return to Green Forest for another game in the Anstaff Bank Holiday Tournament. The Eagles will meet Fayetteville’s junior varsity team at 5:30.

Mountain Home will have four junior high teams in front of the home crowd, as they take on Marion. The eighth grade girls’ game tips off at 4 p.m. followed by the eighth grade boys and both freshmen contests.

In other junior high basketball, Norfork hosts Flippin, and Valley Springs travels to Alpena.
