MH gets 1 win in 4 junior high basketball games with Marion

Mountain Home ended up with one victory Thursday, as they hosted Marion for four junior high basketball games.
The Junior Lady Bombers were edged out by the Junior Lady Patriots 22-20 in the freshmen girls’ game. Mountain Home falls to 6-3 on the season.
Mountain Home’s freshmen boys did not fare any better, as they lost to Marion 39-19. The Junior Bombers drop to 3-7 on the year.
Mountain Home’s lone victory was in the eighth grade girls’ contest, as they defeated Marion 18-7. The Eighth Grade Lady Bombers’ record improves to 4-2.
Mountain Home was not as fortunate in the eighth grade boys’ game, as they fell to Marion 41-24. The Eighth Grade Bombers are now 5-2 on the season.
Mountain Home’s freshmen teams will go to West Memphis on Monday to meet Wonder. The eighth graders are off until the new year.

On the high school level, Dora’s boys notched a huge victory, as they met another ranked team in the Ozark Mountain Shootout at Glendale High School in Springfield. The Falcons, ranked No. 2 in Missouri’s Class 1, defeated the top-ranked team in Oklahoma’s Class 4A, Heritage Hall, 65-60 in overtime. Isaac Haney led Dora with 32 points.

Gainesville advanced to the consolation title game of the Mansfield Invitational Boys’ Basketball Tournament. The Bulldogs got past the host Lions 60-56.

The Battle of the Border Tournament wrapped up its second round Thursday at Mammoth Spring.
Mountain Home Christian Academy’s boys were able to advance to the consolation final. The Eagles topped Sloan-Hendrix 48-36 and will face Calico Rock on Saturday.
The Mammoth Spring boys will play for the championship on Saturday after beating Mountain View-Liberty 63-58. The Bears’ final opponent in the tournament will be Hillcrest.
Mammoth Spring was also move on to the final of the girls’ bracket. Salem fell to the Lady Bears 40-39.
In the other girls’ semifinal, Thayer was a 45-39 winner over Hillcrest. Salem will face the Lady Screamin’ Eagles for third place on Saturday, and Mammoth Spring will take on the Lady Bobcats for the title.

Melbourne’s boys suffered their second loss in the Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College High School Tournament at Batesville. The Bearkatz were edged out by Greers Ferry West Side 43-42.

The Bergman boys advanced to the championship game of the Arvest Bank Duel at the Dome in West Fork. The Panthers defeated Prairie Grove 63-55.

Both of the host teams will be paired with Jasper for the finals of the Western Grove Tournament. On the girls’ side, the Lady Warriors routed Deer 63-34, and the Lady Pirates beat Oark by forfeit. In boys’ action, Western Grove invoked the mercy rule with a 69-33 decision over Oark, and Jasper breezed by with a 65-41 victory over Deer.
