A fugitive from Searcy County, 32-year-old Michael Elliott of St. Joe, has been apprehended in Baxter County.

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell says Elliott has avoided law enforcement for over two months, after failing to report to authorities as required by the circuit court.

Online court records indicate Elliott was scheduled to be transported to an Arkansas Community Correction (ACC) center after sentencing. Elliott and his wife, Amber Elliott, also known as Amber McQueen, fled the Searcy County area and remained missing until Wednesday.

Cassell says on Monday, Searcy County Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce contacted the ACC’s parole and probation division and explained the situation to Officer Jaime Cole, whose fugitive recovery team began tracking Elliott immediately. Two days later, Pierce received confirmation Elliott had been taken into custody in Baxter County.

Amber McQueen Elliott was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Desoto County, Mississippi.

Online court records indicate Michael Elliott has been arrested three times in 2019 and charged with felony drug-related offenses in connection with each incident. Two of the arrests came in the same week in January.
