A Cotter woman has been arrested and charged in Marion County following an alleged fight with another woman, with a pistol and a shovel brandished during a heated exchange.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Friday, a Flippin Police Department officer was dispatched to a disturbance at a residence along Girard Street on Oct. 1.

The victim in the dispute told the officer she was planting outside her home when 52-year-old Anita Spradlin pulled up to her residence in a vehicle. Spradlin was described as the former girlfriend of the victim’s boyfriend.

A heated verbal exchange followed, with Spradlin behind the wheel and the victim outside the vehicle.

The victim, armed with a shovel, “went towards” Spradlin. She told law enforcement she did so because her pregnant 23-year-old daughter was behind her. The daughter captured the exchange on her cellphone with a video.

The video shows the victim walking to the vehicle, with a shovel in her right hand. As she approaches the vehicle, Spradlin produces what appears to be a pistol-like weapon, pointing it at the woman from Flippin.

The victim can reportedly be seen spearing the shovel through the open window of the vehicle while Spradlin is allegedly waving the weapon.

The daughter told law enforcement the Cotter woman then accelerated her vehicle, with the victim releasing the shovel in order to avoid being struck, as Spradlin is speeding off.

Spradlin drove away with the shovel still inside her vehicle. She has been charged with a felony count of aggravated assault. Her bond is set at $10,000.
