A former football coach from Mountain Home is wanting charges filed against the man who replaced him as the head coach at Huntsville High School. Randy Barnhill says current Huntsville coach Matt Williams illegally intercepted some of his text messages.

KNWA in Fayetteville says according to a report from the Huntsville Police Department, Barnhill provided authorities with a timeline of events and a copy of the messages between himself and Elkins High School football coach Bryan Hutson.

Barnhill allegedly sent Hutson text messages with information about signals, routes and players on the Huntsville football team prior to the game between the two teams. The messages were found on a school-owned iPad which had been linked to Barnhill’s cellphone when he was the head coach.

KNWA says the case has been turned over to Madison County prosecutors to determine if charges will be filed.

Barnhill served as an assistant football and head soccer coach in the Mountain Home system before becoming the head football coach in Huntsville in 2016. He was reassigned to another position at the school following the 2018 season.
