Tuesday hoops results include Calico Rock and Izard County splitting

In high school basketball Tuesday night:

In boys’ action:
-Izard County cruised past Calico Rock 66-33 after leading 42-8 at halftime. Jusus Cooper had 15 points for the Cougars, while Caleb Faulkner scored 11. Izard County improves to 14-3 overall and 8-0 in the 1A-2 conference.
-Lead Hill was a 55-47 winner over Bruno-Pyatt.
-Bakersfield lost to Norwood 71-53.
-Mammoth Spring defeated KIPP-Blytheville 79-37. Alex Mero scored 22 points for the Bears, Justin Skaggs had 16, Dillon Savage 11 and Clint Lester had 10 points. Mammoth Spring improves to 8-7 on the season.
Congratulations to Mammoth Spring’s Alex Mero who surpassed 1,000 career points this past weekend.


-Bergman was a 67-26 winner over Green Forest.

In girls’ action:
-Calico Rock defeated county rival Izard County 44-30. Allison Newman scored nine points for Izard County, as they fall to 8-6 overall and 3-4 in the 1A-2 Conference. Izard County won the junior girls’ game 41-16 to improve to 11-2. Quinn Johnson scored 19 for Izard County.
-Gainesville fell to Forsyth 59-39.
-Salem was a 58-35 winner over Buffalo Island Central.
-Lead Hill downed Bruno-Pyatt 63-43.
-Bergman topped Green Forest 58-27.
-Mammoth Spring whipped KIPP-Blytheville 62-6. Lauren Mitchell led the way with 19 points, Megyn Upton scored 15, and Tessa Smith had 10. The Lady Bears improve to 13-3 on the season.
