MHHS basketball teams win last road games of 2019

The Mountain Home High School basketball teams had a successful Friday night, as they won their final road games of the calendar year.

The Lady Bombers went to Centerton and defeated Bentonville West 54-38. Mountain Home jumped out early. as the Lady Wolverines struggled to avoid turnovers. The Lady Bombers went into the locker room up 33-17 at the break. The tables seemed to turn in the third quarter. as Mountain Home was held to five points, and the period ended with Bentonville West cutting the margin to six. But again, the Lady Wolverines struggled to handle the ball with a total of 22 turnovers, and the Lady Bombers pulled away for a 16-point victory.
Kate Gilbert led Mountain Home with 16 points, and Emma Martin added 15. No one was in double figures for Bentonville West.
The Lady Bombers improve to 7-2 on the season. The Lady Wolverines fall to 3-7.

The Mountain Home boys went to another part of Benton County and defeated Siloam Springs 49-33. The Bombers started by scoring the eight first points in the contest. The Panthers had cut the margin to 15-13 at one point in the first half, but Mountain Home was able to go on another 8-0 run. Siloam Springs was not able to get any closer, as the Bombers also won by 16.
Mountain Home was led by Wyatt Gilbert with 16 points, Mat Jones scored 11, and Jake McGehee added 10. For the Panthers, Evan Sauer had 10 points.
The Bombers are now 5-4 on the year. Siloam Springs drops to 7-3.

Both Mountain Home teams will return to the Hangar Thursday to begin hosting the First Arkansas Bail Bonds Tournament. The Bomber boys will meet Hamburg, and the Mountain Home girls will face Junction City.
