Flippin voters to decide on sales tax

Registered voters in Flippin will determine if the city will institute a 1% sales tax when they cast their ballots in the primary election on March 3.Council members met in a special session on Dec. 3 and approved advancing the measure to the ballot, according to a report from the Mountaineer Echo. Mayor Jerald Marberry called the special session to meet the deadline for items to be included on the ballot.

After three readings by attorney Sam Pasthing, the council voted to approve placing the measure on the ballot. The council also discussed the need for the sales tax and what departments would benefit from the proceeds.
