1st Ark. Bail Bonds Tournament included on busy Thursday schedule

High school basketball makes up the local Thursday schedule, as Mountain Home’s annual holiday event begins its three-day run. The First Arkansas Bail Bonds Tournament will get underway at Bomber Gymnasium and the junior high campus.
The Mountain Home boys will be paired with Hamburg for their opening game. The Bombers improved to 5-4 on the season Friday with a 16-point victory at Siloam Springs. The Lions are 4-4 as they come off a win at Hermitage. Tip-off at the Hangar is scheduled for 6:40.
In the other boys’ game at Bomber Gymnasium, Flippin meets Clarendon at 4 p.m. In the junior high gym, Paragould and Farmington will get underway at 4, and Cave City faces Junction City at 6:40.
Mountain Home’s girls will play the last game of the night at the Hangar, as they take on Junction City. The Lady Bombers come into the tournament at 7-2 after beating Bentonville West Friday night at Centerton. The gametime is scheduled for 8 p.m.
In the other girls’ game at Bomber Gymnasium, Highland plays Farmington at 5:20. In the junior high gym, Har-Ber meets Watson Chapel at 5:20, and Paragould faces Rogers at 8.

Elsewhere, three local boys’ teams will compete in the Cabool Holiday Tournament. Top-seeded Dora will take the court first, as they take on Koshkonong at 9 a.m., Lutie plays Alton at 3, and Gainesville will be matched up with Plato at 4:30.

Two local girls’ teams will return to the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament. Gainesville will meet the host Lady Panthers in the consolation bracket at 1:30, and Dora faces top-seeded Mountain View-Liberty in the quarterfinals at 3.

Three area teams will begin action in the 11th annual Cornerstone Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament at Berryville. On the girls’ side, Viola gets underway at 10 a.m. against Green Forest, and Mountain View takes on eStem at 12:40. Mountain View’s boys will play Shiloh Christian at 11:20.

Three area boys’ teams will be in Highland for their first games in the Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Invitational Tournament, and all three will play in the Maverick Division. Mammoth Spring meets Wynne in the opener at 10 a.m., Calico Rock faces the host Rebels at 1, and Melbourne takes on Strong at 7.

Izard County’s boys are spending the holiday season in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as they play their opener in the Beach Ball Classic. The Cougars’ first game is at 6 p.m., as they will be paired with St. Francis from Alpharetta, Georgia.

Three area girls’ teams will be on the campus of Drury University in Springfield for their first games in the Pink and White Tournament. West Plains will play in the Pink Division, as they meet Aurora at 11 a.m. in the Weiser Gym. The opening round of the White Division will be held in the O’Reilly Family Events Center, as Branson faces Camdenton at 7:30, and Melbourne takes on Buffalo at 9 p.m.

The Lendel Thomas Classic presented by Magness Toyota will get underway at Harrison. In the boys’ games, Western Grove plays Forrest City at 5:30, and the host Goblins will be matched up with the Northwest Arkansas Hornets home school team at 8:30. Harrison’s girls will meet Western Grove at 7.

Three area boys’ teams will be in Springfield for the start of the Greenwood Blue and Gold Tournament. The first round of the Blue Division will be held at Hammons Student Center, as Ava faces top-seeded Willard at 11 a.m., and Branson takes on Lebanon at 12:30. In the Gold Division, West Plains plays Ozark at 6:30 at JQH Arena.
