Busy Friday schedule includes 2nd day of 1st Ark. Bail Bonds Tournament

The local Friday schedule is once again loaded with high school hoops, as Mountain Home will host the second day of the First Arkansas Bail Bonds Tournament.
The Lady Bombers will compete in the semifinals, as they meet Watson Chapel. Mountain Home is 8-2 after picking up a 48-point victory over Junction City. Watson Chapel edged out another group of Lady Wildcats from Har-Ber. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The other girls’ semifinal will pair Rogers with Farmington at 4. On the consolation side, Har-Ber faces Junction City at 10, and Highland takes on Paragould at 1.
The Mountain Home boys will play the last game of the night, as they face Junction City in the semifinals. The Bombers began Thursday by defeating Hamburg. The Dragons edged out Cave City. The gametime is set for 8:30.
Flippin will take part in the other semifinal, as they meet Farmington at 5:30. In the consolation games, Paragould faces Clarendon at 11:30, and Cave City takes on Hamburg at 2:30.

Elsewhere, three local boys’ teams will continue action in the Cabool Holiday Tournament. Lutie will compete on the consolation side, as they will be matched up with Plato at noon. In the quarterfinals, top-seeded Dora plays Norwood at 3, and Gainesville meets Alton at 6.

Dora’s girls will look to avoid elimination in the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament. The Lady Falcons face Koshkonong at noon.

Three area teams will resume play in the 11th annual Cornerstone Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament at Berryville. Mountain View’s boys will play on the consolation bracket, as they take on Green Forest at 11:20. In the girls’ semifinals, Viola plays Dumas at 3:20, and Mountain View will be paired with Berryville at 6.

Three area boys’ teams will continue in the Maverick Division of the Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Invitational Tournament at Highland. On the consolation side, Melbourne meets Star City at 10 a.m., and Calico Rock faces Wynne at 11:30. Mammoth Spring will take part in the semifinals against Highland at 5:30.

Two local girls’ teams will return to First National Bank Arena on the campus of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro for the fifth day of the 73rd-annual NEA Basketball Tournament. Izard County takes on Armorel at 10:30, and Mammoth Spring plays Tuckerman at 3.

The Izard County boys are in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as they will play their second game in the Beach Ball Classic. The Cougars will be matched up with Socastee from Myrtle Beach at 12:45.

Three area girls’ teams will return to the campus of Drury University in Springfield for their quarterfinal games in the Pink and White Tournament. West Plains meets Willard in the Pink Division at 9:30, and Melbourne and Branson will square off in the White Division at 9 p.m. Both games will be played in the O’Reilly Family Events Center.

The Lendel Thomas Classic will continue at Harrison.
Pool play continues on the girls’ side. Western Grove faces Gravette at 10 a.m. and West Memphis at 5:30 on LT’s Court, and Harrison will take on Earle at 11 and Bentonville West at 5:30 at Goblin Arena.
The bracket format continues for the boys’ games. In Goblin Arena, Western Grove plays Earle’s junior varsity team at 1, and Harrison meets Ashdown at 7.

The Greenwood Blue and Gold Tournament will continue in Springfield, as three area boys’ teams will play their second games. In the Blue Division, Ava faces Springfield Hillcrest at 9:30 at the Hammons Student Center in the consolation bracket, and Branson will play in the quarterfinals against Hartville at 11 at JQH Arena. West Plains will play on the consolation side of the Gold Division, as they take on Spokane at 8 p.m. at the Hammons Student Center.
