Gassville searching for candidate to fill council vacancy

The day after Christmas, Gassville Mayor Jeff Braim returned to the city’s business reaching out in an effort to fill a position on the council becoming vacant Tuesday.

At the council’s December meeting, Mayor Braim accepted the pending resignation of Ward 1, Position 2 council member Thom Embach, who is relocating. The council moved to declare a vacancy in the position.Mayor Braim says the Ward 1 boundaries are north of U.S. Highway 62/412.

The individual selected to fill the vacancy will be making an 11-month commitment, with the position being on the November General Election ballot. Mayor Braim says the individual selected to fill the vacancy has the option to seek election to the position.
