Busy Saturday includes final games of 1st Ark. Bail Bonds Tournament

High school basketball makes up a busy Saturday schedule, and Mountain Home will look to wrap up 2019 by keeping a pair of championship trophies at home. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will both play in the finals as they host the last day of the First Arkansas Bail Bonds Tournament.
Mountain Home will meet Farmington in the boys’ title game. The Bombers are currently 7-4 after beating Junction City on Friday. The Cardinals advanced with a 14-point victory over Flippin. Tip-off at Bomber Gymnasium is scheduled for 4:30.
In the other boys’ games, Cave City and Paragould will tip off for seventh place at 9 a.m., Clarendon faces Hamburg for third place at 10:30, and Flippin takes on Junction City for third place at 1:30.
The Mountain Home girls will play the last game of the tournament as their championship opponent will be Rogers. The Lady Bombers eeked out a one-point victory Friday over Watson Chapel, and the Lady Mounties beat Farmington in the other semifinal. The gametime is set for 6 p.m.
The girls’ seventh place game between Highland and Junction City will be played at 9 a.m. in the auxiliary gym. All other games will be in the Hangar as Paragould plays Har-Ber from Springdale for fifth place at noon, and Farmington will be paired with Watson Chapel for third place at 3.

Elsewhere, the North Arkansas College Invitational High School Tournament starts Saturday at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison. The girls’ game between Lead Hill and Omaha tips off at 2:40. On the boys’ side, Lead Hill faces Jasper at 4, and Norfork meets Alpena at 5:20.

Two local boys’ teams will continue action in the Cabool Holiday Tournament. Gainesville will look to avoid elimination as they take on Chadwick at 1:30. Top-seeded Dora will play the first semifinal at 3 p.m. against Lesterville.

Three area teams will wrap up play in the Cornerstone Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament at Berryville. Mountain View’s boys will be matched up with Dover for seventh place at 11:20. The girls’ title game will pit Viola with Mountain View at 6 p.m.

Three area boys’ teams will finish their run in the Maverick Division of the Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Invitational Tournament at Highland. Calico Rock faces Melbourne for seventh place at 10 a.m. Mammoth Spring will play for the championship at 7 p.m. as they meet Middle College from Memphis.

Three area girls’ teams will be back on the Drury University campus in Springfield to continue the Pink and white Tournament. In the White Division, Melbourne takes on the Classen School of Advanced Studies from Oklahoma City in the semifinals at 8:30 p.m. in the O’Reilly Family Events Center, and Branson will look to avoid elimination as they play Thayer at 8:30 in the Weiser Gym. West Plains’ semifinal game in the Pink Division will be against Clever at 4 p.m. in the O’Reilly Center.

The Lendel Thomas Classic will come to an end in Harrison. In boys’ action, Western Grove will be matched up with Earle for the consolation title at 10 a.m. on LT’s Court, and Harrison meets Har-Ber for the championship at 2:30 in Goblin Arena. On the girls’ side, Western Grove faces Bentonville West for fifth place at 11:30 on LT’s Court, and Harrison will play for the title against West Memphis at 1 p.m. in Goblin Arena.

Three area boys’ teams will look to avoid elimination in the Greenwood Blue and Gold Tournament at the Hammons Student Center in Springfield. In the Blue Division, Ava takes on Lebanon at 9:30, and Branson will be paired with Clever at 12:30. West Plains will take on Camdenton in the Gold Division consolation semifinals at 5:30.
