4 local students reach milestones with Ozarka College’s flight training

Four students from North Central Arkansas have reached milestones with Ozarka College’s aviation program.Allexus Scott of Melbourne has passed her private pilot checkride.

Photo: Allexus Scott passes private pilot checkride.When asked about what it was like, Scott says, “At first, extremely nerve-wracking with a lot of over thinking. However, once the nerves settled, and we got to know each other it became the best day of my life so far.” Her instructor, John Catlett, says, “Allexus is a very determined student. She did very well on her checkride. I look forward to working with her for future training.”

Preston Clairday of Melbourne has officially received his private pilot license. Clairday’s future plans are to one day fly cargo or an airliner internationally so he can travel around the world.

When asked about his checkride, Clairday says, “During my checkride I was nervous but very confident in my ability to fly.” His instructor, Tim Ambrose, says, “Preston has been great to work with, and we’re all proud of his success in earning his private pilot license.”

Simeon Sapp of Cherokee Village has officially completed his multi-engine add-on checkride. Sapp’s future plans are to work in the airlines and also volunteer as a missionary pilot.

When asked about his checkride, Sapp says, “Nerve-wracking as usual, but it was exciting, and I am glad to have it under my belt.” His instructor, Catlett, says, “Simeon has been a great student. It’s been a pleasure to assist him with his training.”

Paul Kish of Horseshoe Bend has officially soloed. Kish’s future plans are to live out a happy life with family and friends and obtain his pilot certificate.

When asked about what it was like soloing, Kish says, “It was a nervous experience, but a very enjoyable opportunity.” His instructor, Kevin Crawford, says, “Paul is a joy to fly with. He truly enjoys flying. When we first began flying together, he was very nervous and doubting his abilities. However, with a little patience and encouragement he was able to achieve the first big step toward his lifelong goal of a pilot. I am just thankful I could be a part of it.”

Upon completion of Ozarka’s FAA approved Part 141 flight school, students have the opportunity to complete the multi-engine commercial training at Ozarka College.
