Buffalo National River officials are extending an invitation to experience a star-studded conclusion to 2019 with a ranger-led night sky program.The event will be held Tuesday evening at 6 in the large field at the Steel Creek Boat Launch in Newton County.
Rangers will serve as guides to the night sky in winter, pointing out constellations and sharing folklore pertaining to the stars and celestial phenomena.
Those planning to attend are asked to wear appropriate cold-weather clothing, bring blankets and/or lawn chairs and be mindful of the effects of bright headlights and flashlights on participants’ night vision when entering the program area.
It is also recommended those attending use red or warm-colored flashlights/headlamps for the short walk between the parking lot and program area. Parking will be available at the boat launch.
