A number of water systems in the area are under boil orders, according to the Arkansas Department of Health’s website.

Boil orders were implemented Monday for the Ozark Mountain Regional Public Water Association in Boone, Newton and Searcy counties and the Mt. Sherman, Nail-Swain, Deer, Mockingbird Hill, Parthenon, East Newton County water associations and Jasper Waterworks, all in Newton County.

Boil orders were also implemented in the Lake Bull Shoals Estates Water system in Marion County and the South Mountain, Morning Star, Leslie and SDM water associations and Marshall Waterworks, all in Searcy County. Also on the list are the SPG Water Association in Marion and Searcy counties; Western Grove Municipal Water in Boone, Newton and Searcy counties; Valley Springs Waterworks in Boone and Marion counties; and Lead Hill Waterworks in Boone County.

The reason for the boil orders is listed as “treatment upset/interruption” and, they cover the entire systems. The Lead Hill and Valley Springs orders are due to “pressure loss from source.”  The Lead Hill order covers only the northern distribution area.

All water customers in the impacted areas need to boil water used for cooking or consumption briskly for three to five minutes.

The boil orders will be in effect until water samples tested by the state are deemed good.
