2020 is here, and it’ll bring with it a slew of new studio albums, including records by some big-name veteran artists. Some of the releases have been confirmed — with or without dates — while others are only expected to be arrive in the New Year.
Perhaps the most anticipated album is a potential new collection of original songs by The Rolling Stones. Guitarist Ronnie Wood recently told U.K. newspaper The Sun that the band has been working on the as-yet-untitled project, which he hopes will arrive sometime this year.
Looking at the confirmed 2020 albums, this month will see the release of a new Pet Shop Boys record called Hotspot on January 24.
In February, Richard Marx, Huey Lewis & the News and Barry Manilow all will release new albums. Marx’s record, Limitless, will arrive on February 7, and includes songs he co-wrote with his wife, Daisy Fuentes, and his son Lucas.
Lewis & the News’ Weather and Manilow’s Night Songs II will be released on Valentine’s Day. Weather is the band’s first album since 2010’s R&B covers collection, Soulsville. Night Songs II, a sequel to Manilow’s 2014 Night Songs, features Barry playing intimate renditions of various standards.
Bon Jovi has a new album titled, appropriately, Bon Jovi 2020, coming out sometime this spring. It will feature a song called “Unbroken,” which was released as a single in November. The tune was inspired by U.S. military veterans who are living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD.
Ex-Styx singer/keyboardist Dennis DeYoung also will release a new album this spring called 26 East: Volume 1. The record, DeYoung’s first album in 10 years, includes nine songs he co-wrote with founding Survivor and Ides of March member Jim Peterik.
