Flippin girls lose in Northark quarterfinals; other area teams advance

The North Arkansas College Invitational High School Tournament wrapped up its quarterfinal round Thursday.
Flippin’s girls were eliminated in the final game of the night. The Lady Bobcats fell to Alpena by a final of 69-58.
The Bergman girls were able to invoke the mercy rule in the opening game of the day. The top-seeded Lady Panthers routed Clinton 63-28.
Valley Springs will be Alpena’s next opponent in the tournament. The Lady Tigers defeated Kingston 59-44.
Bergman was also dominant in its game on the boys’ side. The Panthers put the mercy rule in effect, as they pounded Alpena 73-32.
Top-seeded Valley Springs breezed through its quarterfinal game as well. The Tigers beat up on Kingston 81-46.
Omaha’s boys had a rough outing, as they were bounced from the tournament. The Eagles lost to Western Grove 71-37.

Elsewhere, Thursday was a tough night for Yellville-Summit’s boys in Theodosia. The Panthers fell to Lutie 79-69.
