Courtesy of The Capitol TheatreGrateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh turns the big 8-0 this March 15, and to celebrate the milestone birthday, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer will play a special three-night stand, March 13, 14 and 15, at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York.

The shows, which are billed as Phil Lesh & Friends concerts, will feature a special twist — the guest musicians joining Lesh at each gig won’t be revealed until the curtain comes up that night. Various artists who played with Phil Lesh & Friends over the years will be among the participating musicians.

The March concerts also will serve as make-up gigs for the trio of Phil-O-Ween shows at The Capitol Theatre that Lesh postponed last year because he was recovering from back surgery. Fans who held onto tickets for the 2019 shows, which had been scheduled for October 31, November 1 and November 2, respectively, will find their tickets honored, respectively, for the March 13, 14 and 15 concerts.

Ticket holders unable to attend the concert on its rescheduled date can get a refund at the point of purchase. New tickets will go on sale this Friday, January 3, at 12 p.m. ET at Ticketmaster.com.

Back in November, organizers of the Lockn’ Festival announced that the 2020 edition of the jam-heavy extravaganza will feature an all-star 80th birthday celebration for Phil. The festival is scheduled for June 19-21 at its usual location, Infinity Downs and Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Virginia.
