Courtesy of Reckoning PRThe surviving members of The Allman Brothers Band‘s final lineup are reuniting for a special 50th anniversary concert, taking place March 10 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
The group, dubbed The Brothers, will feature founding drummer Jaimoe, guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, bassist Oteil Burbridge, and percussionist Marc Quinones. They’ll be joined by Derek’s younger brother, Duane Trucks, former Allmans pianist Chuck Leavell, and organist Reese Wynans, who played with Dickey Betts and Berry Oakley in the pre-Allmans band Second Coming.
Leavell has been The Rolling Stones‘ touring keyboardist since 1981, while Wynans was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the late Stevie Ray Vaughan‘s backing band, Double Trouble.
The Madison Square Garden show comes more than five years after the final Allman Brothers Band concert, which took place on October 2014 at NYC’s Beacon Theatre. The MSG gig also will be the first time this lineup will reunite since the deaths of original members Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks, Derek and Duane’s uncle. Both Gregg and Butch died in 2017.
“We had all talked about doing a final show at Madison Square Garden which never came to fruition,” says Haynes in a statement. “What a great way to honor 50 years of music and fulfill that wish at the same time.”
Adds Jaimoe, “I can’t wait to play again with my Brothers.”
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, January 10, via Ticketmaster, while pre-sale tickets will be available starting Tuesday, January 7.
