A man listing a Yellville address who was arrested following traffic stops in October and December last year pled guilty to drug-related charges stemming from those encounters.

Thirty-three-year-old Christopher Cockrum changed his plea to guilty during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and was sentenced to six years probation on charges brought as a result of both stops.

Cockrum was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by a Mountain Home Police officer in December. He was found to have methamphetamine and paraphernalia used to ingest the drug on his person.

In mid-October a vehicle being driven by Cockrum had been pulled over by the same officer when it was shown he had a suspended driver’s license and an active Marion County warrant.

The officer said he noticed the “strong odor” of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Cockrum was found to have marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on his person.

A female in the vehicle with Cockrum was also arrested during the October traffic stop and found to have drugs and drug paraphernalia in her possession. Twenty-seven-year-old Taryn Cleveland also appeared during Thursday’s court session and pled guilty to those charges and was put on probation for three years.
