High school basketball makes up the local Friday schedule, as Mountain Home will have its first home games of conference play. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will welcome Paragould to the Twin Lakes Area.
Mountain Home’s girls are 12-3 on the season and 1-1 in the 5A-East. The Lady Bombers are coming off an 11-point win at Greene County Tech. Paragould is 5-8 and 1-1. The Lady Rams suffered a seven-point loss to Jonesboro on Tuesday.
The Mountain Home boys are 9-6 on the year and 0-2 in the league. The Bombers were edged out by Tech on Tuesday. Paragould is 1-12 and 0-2. The Rams were beat up by Jonesboro in their last game.
Mountain Home will be one of four locations hosting a fundraiser known as “5A-East Together Strong.” Brian Clark, a high school official who’s been involved in sports in Northeast Arkansas for over 25 years, is battling Stage 4 colon cancer. A 50-50 drawing will be held during Friday’s games to benefit Clark and his family.
Mountain Home will also honor the high school boys’ cross country team and Lady Bomber runner Marcie Cudworth during halftime of the boys’ game. The Bomber boys won the Class 5A state championship in the fall, and Cudworth captured the individual title on the girls’ side.
The junior varsity boys’ game tips off at 5 p.m. The varsity contests begin around 6 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Elsewhere in the 5A-East, Searcy hosts Marion, Jonesboro entertains Tech, and Nettleton is home against West Memphis.
