An Izard County couple made their first appearance in circuit court earlier this week on drug-related charges.

According to the probable cause affidavits in the case, William Thomas Stanton and Codi Elizabeth Stanton, both 27 years old, were arrested Jan. 7. Their arrests follow officers with Arkansas Community Corrections (ACC), the Izard County Sheriff’s Office and the 16th District Drug Task Force conducting a home visit at a residence along Knob Creek Road in Melbourne near Belview Baptist Church.

The Stantons are under supervision with ACC.

During the home visit, methamphetamine and syringes were allegedly located.

The two are charged with felony counts of maintaining a drug premises in a drug-free zone, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Their bonds are set at $25,000 each.
