Those solid finances provided the additional funding for the parks department, including $100,000 in matching funds for a $96,500 grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. Those funds will be used at Clysta Willett Park to improve handicap accessibility, bleacher seating and playground equipment.

Adams says the parks department had the same number of personnel maintaining upkeep on parks as the city did when the Ray Stahl Soccer Complex was added to the city. Since then, McCabe Park has also been created, stretching personnel.

Much needed equipment is also on the agenda for the parks department, Adams says.
